The Symbol of our Lodge and a of a dawning Age or New Aeon?

This figurine was, presumeably, stolen and retrieved by interpol (the world’s largest international police organization).
Harpocates is Horus in his child form (Horus the Child), as son of Isis-Hathor.
“Isis” (from “Aset”) means “seat ” – the Seat or Throne of Horus, the Sun-God, or Sun-King (Pharaoh).
Hathor = “Hat-Hor” = ”House (womb) of Horus”
[Hat = Hut or House,       Hor = Hoor or Horus]
According to Aleister Crowley, Horus, “the Crowned and Conquering Child” is the God carrying and personifying the energies of the New Aeon.

Pyramid Bank

After my latest post on the Co-op bank, I thought I would just enclose a couple of images of the Manchester-based most ethical bank in the world: -

60 years of Human Rights

My bank, the Co-operative bank [Co-op bank]- the only bank with a  clearly stated pro-humanist, pro-animal, pro-environmental ethical policy and whose organisational headquarters are right beside where our Isis-Hathor Temple meets, stated the following on it’s website -

“2008 marks an historic milestone – the 60th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration on Human Rights (UDHR), and yet around the world, basic human rights are increasingly being restricted.”
Note - 60 is exactly half of 120.
It is as if, in this 120th year of the Golden Dawn, we, in Europe, have raised human rights issues but we are only half-way there.

Goddess Isis-Hathor

An interesting article on Isis-Hathor:

(the article is useful to show how Isis and Hathor can be viewed as two aspects of one Goddess, rather than two separate Goddesses).

Hathor and the Fig Tree

As Ostara / Spring Equinox / Easter is a time associated with fasting, I thought I’d post this piece which I posted on another Golden Dawn forum and was based on a juice fast I did some time ago (last summer I think, not on Easter as such) -
I am not a great fan of fasting, for two reasons – (1) To be honest, I find it boring and depressing as food is one of my greatest pleasures [in other words, perhaps I lack the discipline] and (2) I don’t really feel I need to as I have a very good, clean vegetarian diet (90% vegan these days). Nevertheless, I had one definite weakness in my diet – a tendency to drink too much caffeine - so I thought fasting might get rid of some of the toxic build up that would have possibly occured over the years and, anyway, I thought it would be interesting to do a three day fruit juice fast to see if I received any benefits from it or any sort of energy-boost. Of course, it also was on my mind that fasting might leave me open to an influx of the Divine which for me personally is symbolized by the image of Isis-Hathor. So I had read somewhere that a 3 day fruit juice -fast (drinking only fruit juice) is a good mini-fast giving good results. I made the decision to fast for 3 days on fruit juice as a form of physical and spiritual purification.
During the days of the fast. There was a bowl of dried figs in front of me, on the table in my living room (put there by my partner). Although in the past I had never bothered with them, being only on fruit juice for a few days made ANY solid food I saw look very tempting! So, for the last day of the fast I suddenly decided that that bowl of figs looked very appetizing. Anyway, when the fast ended, the figs were the first thing that I ate and they taste delicious.
Since then I have been a big fan of figs and I often take them on toast or bread in place of jam (I don’t consider most jams healthy being full of refined sugar – rather than just the natural fruit sugar).
Anyway, it was only whenI read this wonderful little article -
Some time later that I made the connection between the fig and the Goddess.
The fast was obviously successful. The Divine One had indeed descended! …and the fig was Her gift to me.
Everytime I have a fig now, I think of Hathor :-)

The understanding of a stranger

When you understand, you belong to the family;
When you do not understand, you are a stranger.
Those who do not understand belong to the family,
And when they understand they are strangers

Happy New Year Fraters and Sorors

of Isis-Hathor Lodge!

First let me thank all of you for your assistance and/or attendance at the Temple over the last year. A Lodge like ours is only as good as its members, and as good as its members make it. It has been a good year for the Lodge generally and although this was the year we lost a couple of founding members, our membership has actually been at its highest so far – so the trend is upwards and in increase, and I am confident this will continue in a definite upward trend throughout 2008.
This coming year will probably be the most important and progressive year of all for our Temple – the one that really sets it on its feet. This is also a very important year for the Golden Dawn generally being the 120th anniversary of the founding of the Order (in 1888). Why is 120 important? – Well, it is considered to be THE Golden Dawn number and is an important Rosicrucian number (the Golden Dawn is, among other things, a Rosicrucian society). You will be hearing more about this as the year progresses, but for now let’s say: this is a good year to really put our Manchester Temple “on the map”, so to speak. Everyone on this mailing list is welcome, indeed, encouraged to attend.
